Build your dog a home that doubles as a planter

kennel with
a difference. This
comfy dwelling has a
rooftop garden, so you
can grow colourful
annuals, succulents
or herbs while saving
your back, as you don’t
have to bend over to
do the gardening.
The project is essentially two boxes
made from two and a half sheets of
15
mm exterior grade plywood, the
bottom one being a kennel and the top
a garden bed. The kennel is designed
for a larger dog, such as a golden
retriever or labrador, but if you have
a smaller pooch or two, simply adjust
the dimensions to suit.
The raised garden has the added
advantage of insulating the kennel,
keeping it cooler in summer and
warmer in winter, while the overhang
also provides shade from the sun. ►
